Fifteen denier is the number most people mean when they say sheer. It is the middle of this line and the point where the knit starts to even out the leg without hiding it.

Snagging

At 15D the yarn is fine and catches easily on rings, nails and rough seating. A tighter knit at 70D resists snagging better than at 15D, but no tights are snag-proof.
